FAQ
How long is the show? What can I expect to see?
A typical, classic bellydance show is about 20-30 minutes. This length of show is by far the most popular and appropriate for most parties. However, for some, smaller events a 10-15 minute set may be best. If your event is very large, a slightly longer show or additional sets may be arranged at an added cost. In a classic performance you may see the dancer use finger cymbals, veils, wings, swords, candles, or cane. If appropriate, audience participation will be encouraged and guests invited to join in the dancing!
Do you bring your own music?
Mariyah will provide a set of music on CD or ipod. The sound system should be provided by the venue.
If requested the dancer may bring a sound system suitable for smaller event for an added fee.
Live music can also be arranged on request.
What kind of music do you dance too?
Mariyah always arranges the set music to the specifications of your event. The set may include traditional Arabic or Turkish music or modern pop. In addition, Greek, Persian or Bollywood hits may be included on request.
Is the show appropriate for children?
Absolutely! Children often love to be involved in the dancing too!
Mariyah even occasionally does dance lesson "Princess" parties for girls.
Is tipping appropriate?
Tipping is never required but it is a traditional and much appreciated gesture. Unless the host has requested otherwise, the dancer will accept tips. Tips may be thrown above the dancer's head as a "money shower", tucked into the armbands of her costume, or simply handed to her.
What if I need more than one belly dancer?
Mariyah would be happy to help you arrange a show with some of the NYC's most talented and professional dancers. Just ask!
How far in advance should I make the booking?
It is always better to book the show sooner than later. If you are flexible about the time that the show begins, last minute shows can often be worked in. However, Saturday nights, especially during the summer or holidays, fill up quickly and it is best to book 2-4 weeks in advance.

Mariyah is available for performances in New York, (NY) New Jersey, (NJ) Long Island and Connecticutt (CT) as will as across the US and abroad.
